Cleaning Your Models

Now your print is finished you will need to clean away the waste resin prior to post curing, and therefore we have listed below some steps to ensure you manage this process in a simple process:

We have used FunToDo resin, ultrasonic cleaner, TEK cleaning fluids and IPA for this guide.

TEK1969
The TEK 1969 is a detergent, it is not a solvent, so unlike the IPA or other flammable solvents which do not dissolve the resin or dirt but detach them with help of a mechanical action type, shaking (eg. Magnetic stirrer), brush, ultrasonic bath etc.

Method of use in ultrasonic:

Put the liquid in the vessel ultrasonic.
Shake the container for 1 minute before performing cleaning process
I run my ultrasonic cleaner for at least 5 minutes
Wash with de-mineralized water or tap water (For clear resins de-mineralized water is best)
Blow dry the object with compressed air.
Post cure in a UV chamber or leave in the sun

The liquid can be cleared with a cloth or with a fine mesh paint filter to remove any sediment and small parts of failed prints, add new liquid when it will be necessary.

TEK 1969 has a similar rate of evaporation water.

TEK1960
This is a solvent and not harmful to viscous liquid resins.

IPA Method: (quick method - most commonly used)
Clean object with IPA alcohol. Don't use acetone! Put the object in a jar or similar with alcohol, and swirl (shake) till the excess resin has been removed (this takes about two or more minutes).
Use a soft brush (make up brush or similar) to clean if necessary.
Don't leave the object in the alcohol!
Blow dry the object with compressed air.
Remove supports if the object is cured enough (otherwise wait till after the post cure).
Put object under UV light for post curing.
The object is cured when you nail doesn't leave scratch marks.

Why use TEK cleaning fluids?

TEK cleaning fluids are not flammable like IPA or as harmful as other cleaning fluids, also cost per litre they are more cost effective.

Safety First.
